Tom McCall Waterfront Park is a 36.59-acre public park located in downtown Portland, Oregon, along the west bank of the Willamette River. Established in 1978, the park offers scenic views, recreational opportunities, and hosts numerous events throughout the year. 

History of Tom McCall Waterfront Park

In the early 20th century, Portland's riverfront was dominated by industrial facilities and Harbor Drive, a major highway. In the 1960s, a movement to reclaim the waterfront for public use gained momentum. Governor Tom McCall supported the initiative, leading to the removal of Harbor Drive and the creation of the park in 1978. The park was renamed in 1984 to honor Governor McCall's environmental legacy.
